Billboard Contest
The Potter County Fair Association held a Billboard Contest last May which was open to all youth in Potter County in public schools, private schools, or home schools from grades 7 through 12. The main objective was for the student to create a billboard that would promote the 2014 Potter County Fair. The winning designs would be painted by the students onto actual billboards and posted on highways throughout the county. The fair board would supply the winners with the sheet of plywood for them to transfer their design for display. Along with their bragging rights and public display of their art work, they will also receive a cash prize for being chosen.
Around the county, at several points of entry along major roads, you will find the “Welcome to Potter County, God’s Country” signs. The winning billboards were displayed on several of these signs beginning fourth of July weekend, right through the end of fair week.
Potter County is blessed to have one of the only free fairs left in Pennsylvania. This is made possible, in part, through the continuous interest from our youth in our button contest. Our area youth is very talented, and we take pride in helping them show it!
Five billboard designs were chosen. Congratulations to the three Northern Potter art students winning this contest: Stacey Plumstead, Ellen Kibbe and Nicole Graham.

Cinderella’s Glass Slipper a big success
The week of 11/18 through 11/23 was a very busy week for the musical cast and crew. In addition to dress rehearsals on Monday through Thursday, they put on two assemblies; one for the Children’s School and one for the High School, both on Friday afternoon. Both were well received by the students, teachers, and staff. Friday night was opening night, with around 340 people in attendance. Saturday night we had a decent crowd as well, despite the bad weather. That night, there were about 175 people in attendance. This was a great experience for all of us, and we are already thinking about what we will do next year! A special thank you goes out to our crew, Sidney Goldsborough and Destiny Perkins, and to Jaime Slawson and Megan Walck for doing hair and make-up for dress rehearsals and the shows. Also, Mr. Davis and his students graciously built the fireplace for our opening scene. I would also like to thank Mrs. Ann Ritter and Mrs. Sheila Olney for coordinating with the other cast parents to provide a wonderful dinner for the kids on Friday night before the show. Mrs. Butler posted the event on the webpage and the District’s Facebook page. The school secretaries helped with getting programs, posters, and tickets printed. It truly was a group effort, and we could not have done it without everyone’s help! A special thank you goes out to Tim Walck for taking great pictures of the cast throughout the week!
